Pre-deployment is about preparation. The Soldier/Airman prepares him/herself in all aspects of their lives. Physically, they train for their mission and gather all the necessities for the deployment. Financially and legally, all documents are finalized to carry out Soldiers/Airman wishes while they are away. Emotionally, a separation begins as focuses begin to change and shift. Family gatherings take on a new meaning as goodbyes draw closer. Spiritually we make amends with our maker and others, asking for prayers of safety, strength, and courage.
Families also prepare themselves in various ways. Looking at support systems and visualizing how to juggle responsibilities without their Soldier/Airman at their side.
In all aspects of ones life we are equipping ourselves to be changed. Each of us goes about this in our own way. Some focus upon internal strengths while others confide in external supports. The Office of the Chaplain (Chaplains, Social workers, and Chaplain Assistants)can be part of the support system which you can draw on during this time of preparation and change. Within each category of Pre-deployment, deployment, and post-deployment is information for you to use in assisting with the changes you may experience.
