Hometown News Release: Lerbakken Promoted in North Dakota Army National Guard

Staff Sgt. Colin T. Lerbakken, of Fargo, N.D., was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the North Dakota Army National Guard.

FARGO, N.D. — Colin T. Lerbakken of Fargo, N.D., has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant with the North Dakota Army National Guard’s 191st Military Police Company.
Lerbakken, who previously served with the Marine Corps, has been in the military for 20 years and gone on multiple deployments, including stints in Iraq, Kosovo and Somalia, as well as serving in Operation Desert Storm.
Lerbakken serves as a squad leader with First Platoon of the 191st Military Police. He wears the uniform outside of drill weekends, as well, working full-time as a mechanic at the North Dakota Army National Guard’s Field Maintenance Shop No. 2 in Fargo.

Since the 2001 terrorist attacks on America, the North Dakota National Guard has mobilized more than 3,500 Soldiers and more than 1,800 Airmen in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Currently, about 800 North Dakota Guardsmen are serving overseas. With a total force of about 4,400 Soldiers and Airmen, sufficient forces remain in the state for emergency response and homeland defense.
